In the beautiful Douro Region, you will find the old Franciscan monastery that today comprises the main house of the Quinta de Marrocos estate. The estate enjoys a lovely location by the left bank of the Douro River, nestled between the snow on the MarĂ£o mountain range, the history and art of Lamego and Vila Real, the traditions and customs of the villages and towns, and the nature of the Douro valley.

Nestled into the terraced hills of the Douro Valley, Portugal, the family-owned Quinta de Marrocos offers a profound and authentic wine country experience. Heralded by its emblematic twin cypress trees, this historic 17th-century estate was once a Franciscan monastery before being acquired by the Galante Correia Sequeira family generations ago. Today, it remains a working farm and a charming bed and breakfast, combining rustic tradition with genuine Portuguese hospitality.

The magic of Quinta de Marrocos is deeply rooted in its respect for heritage. The family continues time-honored winemaking practices, including foot-treading grapes in traditional granite presses.

Guided tours offer a fascinating look into this process, revealing how the estate creates its diverse range of Douro and Port wines, including aged tawny and ruby ports. The estate's old vineyards, some over a century old, feature dozens of ancient grape varieties that contribute to the unique character of their celebrated wines.

The 17th-century house is decorated with (country-style) family antiques. It is one of the oldest estates in the Douro and has maintained its Viti Vini cultural activity for over 4 generations, producing famous Port and Douro wines.

We invite you to come and discover one of Portugal's treasures, the Douro, and experiment with one of life's greatest pleasures - Port Wine.

The really interesting feature of this place is its traditional approach to everything they do tourism-related. It will be the owner welcoming you and showing you the grounds and the vineyards, teaching you how to harvest and other aspects of life and wine production here. Oh, and of course, wine, cheese, and dairy products will be tasted!
